Registration of a preferred name may be rejected if it:
Is similar to the name of another legal entity or contains profanity and offensive words;
Includes the names of state government bodies of the Republic of Armenia;
Contains the full or abbreviated name of a historical or famous person of the Republic of Armenia and was submitted without permission to use that name.
When using a famous person's name in a company's trade name, it is necessary to submit that person's written consent during business registration.
If the person is deceased, consent must be provided by all heirs who have received the inheritance.
If the person is deceased and has no heirs, their full or abbreviated name may be used in the trade name based on a permit issued by the Agency of the State Register, provided that the person's fame was acquired in a field that coincides with the main field of activity of the given legal entity.
The words "Hay," "Armenia," "Armenian," and their translations may be included in a company's trade name only based on an application for trade name registration. This must be accompanied by a receipt of payment for the state fee—set at 600,000 AMD annually—or its 20-digit code and the corresponding certificate. The application for name registration and the first payment of the state fee are made at the time of business registration.
After registration, to continue using these names in each subsequent year, the state fee must be paid in advance. The payment receipt or its 20-digit code must be submitted to the Agency of the State Register of Legal Entities of the RA before the end of the current year.
The start of the year for the granted permission is considered to be the date of the trade name registration or its amendment.
The use of these words without paying the state fee is possible if they are part of the founder's name.
